Mercedes-Benz Atego Euro 6 : introduction and pictures

Mercedes finishes the complete renewal of their trucks with the introduction of the Atego Euro 6. The first Atego imposed itself as a reference on the European market in the 6.5 t to 16 t GVW category. When time came to offer models respecting the Euro 6 norm, it naturally came to the German make to develop a new version of the Atego that should be at least as efficient as the first one.  Aesthetically pleasing, comfortable cab, motorization, let’s talk about the characteristics of this new Mercedes Atego.

 A glimpse is enough to find the common parts of this new Atego with the latest Mercedes Actros, Antos and Arocs models. On the outside, you will notice that the bumpers have been completely redesigned. On the inside, the driving area is inspired by the most recent Mercedes-Benz models whether it’s the design but also the features.

The German make wants to provide their clients with models perfectly fitting the needs of the collect and delivery sector. The Atego trucks will be available in three different cab lengths, wheel bases, a version with four-wheel drive will also be on the market. The new Mercedes Atego Euro 6 will be equipped with the PowerShift 3automatic gearboxes with 6 or 8 gears and the ESP electronic stability program.

Two Euro 6 engines for the new Mercedes Atego

Mercedes-Benz offers a 4-cylinder OM934 Blue Efficiency Power engine of 5.1 liters made for light loads haulage. This motorization will be available with a power that can vary between 156hp (115kW) and 231hp (170kW). The Mercedes Atego Euro 6 can also be equipped with a 7.7liter, 6-cylinder Common Rail OM 936 engine with different motorizations between 238hp (175kW) and 299hp (220kW).

The Mercedes-Benz Euro 6 engines are more fuel efficient, pollute less and use less AdBlue thanks to the BlueTec 6 technology.
