The visitors at the 2013 Bauma were at the Volvo Trucks stand to admire the new Volvo FMX. For Claes Nilsson, Volvo Trucks CEO, it was simply the introduction of the “best construction truck on the market”. Let’s look at the pictures, clips and first information about this new Volvo FMX.

The Volvo FMX design, modern and powerful at the same time

A robust heavy construction duty truck for today and tomorrow, that was the goal that led to the design of the Volvo FMX. With its steel cab, the truck passed all the security controls, even the strictest in the world. For the design, the Volvo logo and the diagonal bar are more visible than on the other make’s models, offering a dose of masculinity to the Volvo FMX.

11 and 13 liter Euro 6 motorization for the Volvo FMX

Two engines respecting the Euro 6 norm demands are available to equip this new Volvo FMX : the D11 and D13. The D11 motorization has a power that goes from 330 to 450hp whereas the D13 motorization goes from 380 to 500hp. The drastic criteria of the Euro 6 norm are respected thanks to particle filters that automatically regenerate and an exhaust gas recirculation system.

The Volvo Dynamic steering system, for a low-effort steering

The new Volvo FMX is equipped with the Volvo Dynamic Steering, which improves manoeuvrability. It’s an electric engine connected to the steering system and can replace the driver at low speed. Volvo Dynamic Steering also brings the wheel back to the centre when the vehicle is going backwards.
