MAN Trucks & Bus and Bosch Rexroth have developed a revolutionary vehicle in terms of energy savings by following a simple idea : braking produces energy that can be used to accelerate. This concept is the base for the development of the MAN TGM hydraulic hybrid waste collection tipper truck.

An ingenious hybrid engine for the MAN TGM

The HRB system created by MAN Trucks & Bus in association with Bosch Rexroth transforms the energy produced during the braking in hydraulic energy that is then stocked up in a high pressure accumulator. During the acceleration, the hydraulic engine takes over the heat engine thanks to this energy. This engine is available on 290hp MAN TGM equipped with two or three axles.

A fuel efficient waste collection tipper

Reduce the energy consumption of waste collection vehicles is an essential bet nowadays. The hydraulic hybrid solution developed by MAN Trucks & Bus helps reduce a truck’s fuel consumption up to 25% in comparison to a classic engine. Knowing that a waste collection tipper consumes approximately 75l/100km, the saving is significant.
