Rob Hunt behind the wheel of the Volvo FL in the streets of Ciudad Rodrigo
The shooting took place in Spain, in the medieval city of Ciudad Rodrigo. The idea was actually to demonstrate the driving flexibility of the truck in extreme conditions. The streets there are particularly narrow and winding; so that we can barely imagine a truck pass through such an area. To make the situation even more difficult and set up a real challenge, Volvo has also asked for a herd of bulls, chasing the Volvo FX in the scene and preventing the driver from stepping on the brake pedal.
A high potential in terms of technologies and equipments
It could be very difficult to imagine a 12 tons vehicle goes through such small streets, but the Volvo FL did it well! Indeed, the manufacturer has given a high priority to practicality by choosing: a cab reduced by 5 cm due to the rims (with a smaller diameter), providing a better visibility for the driver and a vehicle easier to get off at the same time. The Volvo automated transmission aims at keeping the driver focused on the road and its dangers. A big advantage, as Rob Hunt recently stated: “Thanks to the Volvo FL, driving has become really simple”. Once again, Volvo gathered all the elements to create a big TV campaign and convince an increasing number of customers.
