ZF innovation facilitates truck manœuvres
The system is currently being tested on a 25.25m DAF XF tractor-trailer.
The idea is to show the innovation on transmission, steering and telematic systems. The ZF application facilitates the manufacturer, the trucker and the haulier operations. The prototype's official presentation will take place at the IAA exhibition in Hannover in September 2014. On this occasion, the manufacturer will give more information about the way this new product works.
How to manoeuvre a truck at distance ?
It is very easy. Simply download the app and affix the chips on the vehicle.
The app is intuitive and helps you select the element you want to manoeuvre (tractor, chassis, trailer) and choose the inclination angle at which to do the manoeuvre. The truck drives itself up to 4 km/h forward and only 2km/h in reverse.
Autonomous driving and autopilot trucks
ZF is not only the only one to tackle the autonomous driving market.
Last month, Mercedes-Benz tested their autopilot « Future Trucks 2025 » and Google tries out autonomous driving cars.
