The German manufacturer introduces their latest economical and ecological Actros, equipped with the latest OM 471 generation.

With the latest ultra resistant OM 471 engine,  Actros tractor units and trucks use up to 3% less fuel but still have the same power and dynamism.

Profits for companies : impressive savings

This is the first time that a truck is designed to provide maximum effiency in order to help long-distance transport profesionnals make impressive savings.

The efficency has been obtained with sophisticated technologies such as the second generation X-pulse injection engine, the patented solution for exhaust gas recirculation, or a simultaneous control of the turbo-compressor developped and manufactured by  Mercedes-Benz. The engine output ensures a strong start and acceleration, even at low speed. At a standstill, the engine can go up to 1000 tr/min. At normal speed, it can reach 1600 tr/min.

Benefit for the environment : an ecological tractor unit

When talking about robust commercial vehicles, their maximum efficiency is automatically linked to the respect of the environment. The Mercedes-Benz Actros tractor unit benefits from a reduced fuel consumption. It is not only beneficial to the company's fincances. If the truck travels 130 000 km per year, mostly on motorway, the new OM 471 engine of the Actros saves approximately 1100 litres of fuel per year, compared to the previous version. This means a 3-ton reduction of CO2 emissions per truck.

Meticulous tests

One of the main tests the Mercedes-Benz trucks  do is a round trip on the motorway between Stuttgart and Hamburg. This main road in Central Europe has different sections : undulating roads, mountain road and long straight roads. All the vehicles are driven in the same conditions avoiding bad weather and traffic jams.

Daimler Trucks compares their trucks between them but also with the models of competitor makes. The trucks are tested in terms of engine power, transmission, axle ratio and control systems. In the end, the Mercedes-Benz Actros uses approximately 3% less fuel than the other tractor units.
