Renault Trucks introduces two electric trucks during the COP21

Renault Trucks showcases two major innovations in terms of electric trucks during the COP21 in Paris from November 30th to December 11th 2015. The manufacturer exhibits two trucks : The Maxity Electric of 4,5 tonnes operating on a hydrogen fuel cell and the Renault Trucks D of 16 tonnes all-electric.

The Maxity Electric and its hydrogen fuel cell

Tested in France since February 2015 in real operating conditions in the Jura department, the Renault Maxity Electic has been chosen by the companies Symbio FCell, La Poste, McPhy Energy and the Compagnie nationale du Rhône (CNR) to be showed in their booth of the COP21. Its hydrogen fuel cell impressed the organisers because it reduces the pollution. The hydrogen fuel cell inside which the electricity is produced by the oxydation of the hydrogen of one of the two electrodes. This cell developped by  Symbio FCell, doubles the autonomy of the electric vehicle, from 100 km to 200 km. The hydrogen fuel cell doubles the autonomy of the Renault Trucks truck but also reduces the charge time of the battery since the hydrogen refill is comparable to filling the tank of a diesel truck.

The Renault Trucks D all-electric

The Renault Trucks D is the second major innovation introduced by the manufacturer. This truck is, also, being tested in actual operating conditions for the last 18 months in France. The Renault Trucks electric truck doesn't make any noise and doesn't pollute. It has an autonomy of 200 Km in mode « all-electric » with partial refills of the battery depending on the delivery's capacity, journey and logistics.

Renault Trucks is now testing a lot of clean technologies in actual operating conditions. The manufacturer's goal is to find a non-polluting solution that is profitable and effective for their clients by 2020.
