It is time to start making prognosis on the Dakar rallye that will take place in South America from January 3rd, 2016 in Buenos Aires. The rallye takes place in two countries : Bolivia and Argentina. The manufacturer Kamaz won the last three Dakar titles. This year, they are the favorites with their talented drivers Karginov, Nikolaev and Mardeev who were on the podium in 2015. However, they will have great competitors that could win the trophy.

The Russians on the Kamaz Master Team are the favorites after impressive wins

Since the beginning of the 2000s, the Kamaz team has won 12 times the Dakar in 15 years thanks to their talented pilots. Moreover, the Kamaz pilots are used to south American terrains with Nikolaev winning the 2013 edition and Mardeev winning in 2015 in the South American dunes. Pilot Andreï Karginov won the Dakar in 2014 that was also organised in this part of the world. The three Russians from the Kamaz team have all the chance of winning the Dakar in 2016.

The 2012 Iveco winner's participation is serious competition

Dutch pilot Gerard De Rooy won the title in 2012 with Iveco. This year, he recruited his old rival, Czech pilot Ales Loprais, nephew of Karel Loprais six time winner of the Paris-Dakar in the truck category.

Gerard De Rooy finished in second position in 2014 and sixth in 2015 with his Iveco truck. In 2015, Alès Loprais finished fourth behind the Russians pilots in a MAN truck.

The two pilots, in the same team for the 2016 edition, can win with an Iveco truck.

Man and Tatra can conquer the podium

Except Iveco, the two other competitors that won over Kamaz in the last 15 years are Man in 2007 and Tatra in 2001. The Russian pilots may be favorites but lots of other competitors are ready to battle to win the competition.

Moreover, the Renault Trucks truck driven by Martin Van den Brink has had technical improvements that could help them win. His last win in the Morrocan rallye in october 2015 confirms his competitor status. The steep roads of the Dakar will give us the answer to our questions January 3 to 16, 2016.
