For the first time in history, all actors of the transport and logistics industry will be able to log in to the same platform to enter, manage and use data regarding their job. This solution, called RIO, is based on the cloud. It centralises and analyzes information through different data in order to help users in real time. Users will be able to organise their work for a better profitability.

A digital network open to all makes

« Rio will fundamentally change the world of transportation as we know it. », said Andreas Renschler, CEO of Volkswagen Truck & Bus, whose branch MAN created the system. Spring 2017 will be the start of the RIO use in MAN and Scania trucks. But it is available for every make. Vehicles equipped with the FMS interface can log in with an update kit.

This digital platform includes apps such as Driver’s Connectivity made to transfer precise data to the driver, or Synfioo that helps estimate the arrival time of the driver from the analysis of the road disturbances.

A unique system for freight transport traceability

This initiative by Volkswagen ends the isolation of information from the transport chain, which made it impossible to trace the movement of freight, from the warehouse to the recipient. From now on, all the solutions are brought together by one unique and coherent system.

The creators of this project hope to increase the savings for company, but also pollution reduction.
