Scania just announced the sale of the new L series, that adds to their new generation truck offer. This new series has been designed for cities and suburban areas. Vehicles are designed for distribution, construction or waste collection.

Designed for urban driving

Before the making of the L series models, Scania has witnessed that  city truck users prefer a low-entry cab. Before, only tippers had this kind of equipment. This change has been decided to take into consideration the needs in big urban areas management. Environment protection and sustainable development are also taken into consideration : Scania wanted to innovate to help develop new urban vehicles that need to fit cerain criteria such as noise level limitation or polluting emissions.

Equipped to easily manoeuvre and limit city accidents

Big cities have an increased trafic flow in the last years. In order to adapt, each vehicle should be easier to drive, be silent and offer an optimum visibility to the driver. Scania has equipped the L series trucks with a window (Scania City Safe Window) on the passenger's side. It will be easier to see vulnerable road users such as cyclists and pedestrians near the vehicle.

Some urban area uses means often getting in and out of the cab. This operation will be easier on the L series thanks to its lowering system to reduces the height between the cab's floor and the ground.
