Hiab (Cargotec Corporation) announced the sale of their latest invention. It is an oil tank made for cranes. It will be equipped with the Cyclone technology.

A patented technology

Hiab has patented the Cyclone technology, a first for the industry.

The goal of Cyclone is to reduce the oil consumption, and thus the exploitation costs. Its dimensions and weight are smaller and lighter than the previous models. The tank is still functial because the oil is filtered more often.

The true advantage of the Cyclone technology is the air extraction system, in the hydraulic oil that goes back to the tank. The manufacturer forecasts an increased efficiency gain in comparison with the other systems already available on the market.

Directly installed on a crane

Two options are possible regarding the tank installation. The first option is to install it ona truck whereas the second option is to put it directly on the crane.

The installation on the crane has several advantages. First of all, it offers better working conditions for the pump. Then, it is less expensive than installing it on a truck. Finally, the crane option automatically includes the oil tank in the machine's warranty.

In addition to the potential savings, Hiab wants to showcase their progress in terms of enviromnent protection.
