Renault Trucks to develop new electric truck range

Renault Trucks has just presented its second generation of 100% electric trucks. Called Z.E (for Zero Emission), it currently consists of three vehicles, namely the Renault Trucks Master Z.E, the Renault Trucks D Z.E and the Renault Trucks D Wide Z.E, and is primarily intended for urban areas.

Trucks designed for specific uses

The first model of this series will be launched in September. It will be the Renault Master Z.E. This model has six versions (four van versions and two other floor cab versions). It was designed to handle last mile deliveries.

The D Z.E model will be available at the end of 2019 in a 16-ton version. It will meet the needs of distribution professionals, particularly for large urban centres or deliveries with special temperature conditions. At the same time, the 26-ton version of the D Wide Z.E will also be released. This one aims to ensure the collection of waste. Both the D Z.E and the D Wide Z.E will be manufactured in the Renault Trucks plant in Blainville-sur-Orne (France).

The results of 10 years of experimentation

For more than a decade now, the manufacturer has believed in the virtues and benefits of electric vehicles in terms of the environment and noise pollution in our cities. It was thus able to test this solution, under real operating conditions, with its partner customers. Renault Trucks was able to acquire valuable data that allowed it to learn to master 100% electric technology.

The manufacturer also expects traffic conditions in large urban areas to worsen. Indeed, many municipalities have indicated their intention to limit access to their city centres to vehicles that are too polluting or noisy.
