Volvo unveils its FMX 8x6 40T dump truck
On September 10 and 11, 2025, Volvo Trucks France organized the second edition of its "Move to Zero" event in France. The manufacturer took the opportunity to announce the upcoming launch of the FMX 8x6 40T, a new rigid dump truck for quarries.
Efficient and all-terrain
The Volvo FMX 8x6 Rigid 40T has been designed to handle long journeys on difficult terrain. It can also be approved for use on open public roads. Its 8x6 axle configuration allows it to carry up to 40 tonnes of payload.
This model also promises maximum profitability. In addition to being powerful, it is fuel-efficient. This efficiency helps reduce fuel costs while limiting environmental impact. Compared to other vehicles in its category, the FMX 8x6 40T cuts CO₂ emissions per transported tonne in half. At the same time, it ensures compatibility with alternative fuels such as HVO and B100.
Technologies and safety
Operating in demanding environments, this truck with a 22 m³ body incorporates numerous innovations designed for long-term durability. It features a powertrain already proven on Volvo CE dump trucks, combined with the Powertronic gearbox with hydraulic retarder. To improve mobility, special suspensions and R24 tires have been installed.
With CE certification (2006/42/EC), the cab of the Volvo FMX 8x6 Rigid 40T ensures driver safety. For greater needs, optional FOPS/ROPS protection is available.
