Volvo Trucks continues to develop new electric transport solutions. The manufacturer is adding a new version of its FL Electric to the range, a medium-duty battery-electric truck.

Distribution operations

The FL model is not a newcomer. Since its launch, its various versions have appealed to many professionals around the world (Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia). All share compact dimensions and a high level of driving comfort. These qualities allow the truck to move easily in city centres to carry out distribution tasks. Now equipped with electric technology, it also meets local environmental requirements and operates silently.

The latest variant has a gross vehicle weight rating of 14 tonnes. Within the Volvo Trucks lineup, it is positioned alongside the 16- and 18-tonne models. The maximum GVW of a Volvo FE Electric can reach up to 26 tonnes. By strengthening its range, the manufacturer offers new solutions to its customers.

New battery configuration

This version also features another significant development concerning the batteries. Available in different shapes and power levels, they allow for a wide range of configurations. With a usable capacity of 145 kWh, they supply an electric drivetrain rated at 180 kW.

A dedicated direct-current charging system enables partial recharging (from 20 to 80%) of eight batteries in just 90 minutes. The FL Electric’s range can reach up to 200 km on a single charge, which is more than sufficient for urban operations.
