Record order: 3,000 MAN vehicles for Deutsche Bahn

MAN Truck & Bus and Deutsche Bahn have just concluded an agreement providing for the supply of more than 3,000 buses and coaches. The first vehicles will be delivered from next year, with the final deliveries scheduled for 2032.

Predominantly electric models

This order mainly consists of electric MAN Lion’s City E vehicles. They are available in three versions (10, 12 and 18 metres) to meet different requirements (operation in narrow city centres, particularly busy routes, etc.). The agreement also includes a number of vehicles powered by more conventional energy sources such as diesel, or more environmentally friendly alternatives like natural gas. Alongside these are hybrid models, primarily intended for urban transport.

These choices are no coincidence. On the contrary, they confirm the commitment of MAN Truck & Bus and Deutsche Bahn to shifting transport services towards more environmentally responsible solutions. Thanks to this long-term contract, the latter company ensures access to modern, high-performance vehicles that are also manufactured in Europe.

MAN Truck & Bus and Deutsche Bahn: a relationship of trust

This is not the first time the two companies have worked together. Their initial partnership began as early as 2010. Since then, no fewer than 5,000 MAN vehicles have been delivered to Deutsche Bahn for use in urban services as well as on longer-distance routes.

Once manufactured and delivered, the additional 3,000 vehicles will bolster the local fleets of DB Regio AG, a company specialising in regional transport and a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn.
