More than 10,000 gas-powered trucks delivered by Volvo Trucks
Volvo Trucks announces that it has surpassed the milestone of 10,000 gas-powered trucks sold worldwide since the launch of this technology in 2018. The manufacturer also reports that 2025 was its best year in terms of sales in this segment.
Momentum driven by European markets
The United Kingdom is currently the leading market for Volvo Trucks’ gas-powered trucks, ahead of Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, Norway and France. The manufacturer also reports growing momentum in India and Latin America, identified as developing markets for this powertrain. In several countries, the refuelling network is now well established. In Germany, Norway, Finland and Sweden, all stations offer bio-LNG. Access to this renewable fuel is expanding, in some cases supported by tax incentives and public policies favouring alternative energies. According to Volvo, the use of bio-LNG can enable a reduction in CO₂ emissions of up to 100%, depending on the production and usage cycle.
Up to 1,000 km range for long-haul transport
Gas engines are available in the Volvo FM, Volvo FH and Volvo FH Aero ranges. They are compatible with fossil LNG (liquefied natural gas) and bio-LNG derived from organic waste. The trucks concerned can achieve up to 1,000 kilometres of range on a single tank, positioning them for regional and long-haul transport operations. In a context where shippers and transport operators are seeking low-emission solutions, Volvo highlights gas as an operational option already available at scale.
