MAN accelerates fleet management with AI
MAN Truck & Bus is integrating an AI-powered conversational assistant into its Perform service, deployed in Germany from April 2026 and planned for France in spring 2026. The tool processes telemetry data from the RIO platform in natural language, driving behaviour, fuel consumption, component wear, and returns analyses up to three times faster than manually consulting dashboards.
The Digital Fleet Assistant simultaneously queries Perform's near-real-time usage data and an integrated knowledge base, continuously updated with training materials, technical manuals, and feedback from the field. In response to a query phrased in natural language, "Which drivers have room for improvement?" or "What recommendations can I give to drivers?", the system generates a contextual assessment and actionable guidance that can be passed directly to teams.
The parameters analysed cover anticipatory driving behaviour, exceedances of the defined speed range, accelerator pedal usage with cruise control active, idling times, and component wear. Data is returned in a standardised format, enabling objective comparison between vehicles and drivers whilst accounting for route profiles and traffic conditions specific to each assignment.
Perform on the RIO platform: near-real-time data
Perform accesses usage data and evaluates the difficulty of completed transport cycles, vehicle by vehicle or across the entire fleet. Fleet managers can thus identify untapped efficiency potential and premature wear without manual queries in reporting interfaces.
Phased rollout across Europe
Launched in Austria in spring 2025, the assistant has been available to Perform customers in Germany since April 2026. The extension to France is planned for spring 2026, ahead of further expansion to other European markets. Integration with the MAN Driver app allows drivers to consult their individual performance indicators and adjust their driving style autonomously, without fleet manager intervention.
