Devoted to the sustainable mobility principles, the truck manufacturer strives to create new products designed to anticipate the new environmental standards.
New hybrid solutions for IVECO vehicles
After the success of its hybrid solutions for bus, IVECO managed to develop and apply its parallel hybrid technology to its Daily range. A specific hybrid application was developed for the manufacturer's medium truck range – Eurocargo. The Eurocargo hybrid cargo unit, which made its debut at the IAA'2010, uses a diesel-electric parallel hybrid driveline. Its 12t version is powered by a 180 hp diesel engine (132kW) and a 60 hp electric motor-generator (44kW). Its fuel consumption in urban area is 30% lower than in standard diesel vehicles. On top of it all, the new truck is certified to meet the stringent Enhanced Environmentally friendly Vehicle (EEV) standards.
A complete range of CNG vehicles
Ever since the 90s, IVECO has been dedicating a large part of its R&D budget to the research and development of alternative solutions for traditional fuel. Today, it is the only manufacturer of trucks and commercial vehicles to be able to offer its clients a complete range of CNG vehicles (EcoDaily Natural Power, Stralis, Eurocargo, etc.) The IVECO CNG engines generate almost zero local pollution with ultra-low NOx et PM. The manufacturer's environment friendly novelties include the famous ECODaily Electric ZEV (Zero-Emission Vehicle). As for its truck innovations, the new IVECO Stralis GNV AT440S27, unveiled at the POLLUTEC trade show at the end of 2010, should soon become the best vehicle for medium to long range distribution with its low level of NOx emissions (no fine particles or CO2).
IVECO Driver Training
IVECO offers its truck owners and drivers the opportunity to participate in the company's cost-effective driving course, IVECO Driver Training. This program, designed for Iveco Stralis, is intended to help the driver get to know more about this particular truck model and optimize his or her driving style. Understanding the principles of the overall vehicle management should enable the truck drivers to increase their productivity and profitability, while minimizing their impact on the environment at the same time.
IVECO awarded for its public transport innovations
In the course of the European Mobility Exhibition «Transports Publics 2010» (Paris), Iveco France received one of the Public Transport Innovation Awards, the «Energy and Environment» award. The jury of experts awarded the truck manufacturer for its new hybrid bus ranges – IVECO Irisbus Citelis and Heuliez Bus Access’Bus GX 327 and 427. The new technologies used in these vehicles allow to cut down by 25 % both fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
