The Mercedes Antos inspired by its predecessors
Unlike the Axor model, the new Mercedes Antos does not suffer from the same disadvantage of having too small a cab for too heavy a chassis. Its 2.30-metre-wide cab designed specifically for easy access in urban areas is available in eaither short «S» or medium «M» versions. As for its general styling, although it is obvious that the new truck is related to the Actros model, it has some original features as well. The new Mercedes Antos will be available either as tractor unit or as platform truck with a total of 67 different wheelbase lengths and the axle spacing varying from 2650 mm to 6700 mm.
Various versions of the future Mercedes Antos
Two special versions presented by Mercedes-Benz are: Antos Loader (designed to transport heavy loads) and Antos Volumer (created for volume transport). The Loader allows to maximise the payload with an unladen weight of about 6 tonnes. The Volumer stands out with its interior height of 3 metres, which enables to maximise the truck's load capacity.
Highly efficient Euro 6 engines
The new Mercedes Antos will be equipped with the latest Euro 6-compliant engines available in 13 power categories. Their engine power can vary from 238 to 510 hp, and amongst their various features, drivers will particularly appreciate the fully automated PowerShift transmission. The truck's engine also features the new technology – Blue Efficiency Power – recently launched by the German manufacturer.
